President Shimon Peres celebrated his 90th birthday in June 2013 at a major event at the Nation Buildings in Jerusalem that was entirely dedicated to the promotion and branding of Israel as a world capital of innovation and entrepreneurship through the prominent landmarks in the president’s life and legacy.
In a ceremony that was broadcast live on all media channels in Israel and on major channels around the world, many well-known guests were hosted: Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former US President Bill Clinton, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, singer Barbra Streisand, actors Robert De Niro and Sharon Stone, Mayor of Chicago Ram Emanuel, Prince Albert of Monaco, Nobel Prize winners Prof. Daniel Kahneman and Prof. Dan Shechtman and a number of high-tech industry executives such as John Chambers – President of Cisco, David Markus – President of PayPal and Rene Obermann – CEO of Deutsche Telecom.
Prominent presidents and artists appeared in a special broadcast, including the lead singer of the band U2 Bono, the writer and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Elie Wiesel, the President of the United States Barack Obama, the President of France Francois Hollande and the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
